While attempting to delete unused programmes I must have accidentally deleted my soundcard!

Trying to use any media player or even youtube causes problems i.e crashing & slowing down my computer!

HELP :(
You've deleted your soundcard? I assume you must have deleted the driver for it while spring cleaning?

Do you have a soundcard that plugs into the Motherboard by PCI? If so you should be able to open the computer up, remove the card from the motherboard and then replace it. If it is Plug and Play, (Pretty Likely) when you next turn on the computer it will detect the 'new' hardware and should bring up an install wizard. Follow the instructions using the recommended options, it may wish to connect to the internet to find the relevant driver for you.

If you don't have a PCI Soundcard it will be built onto the motherboard, you'll need to locate the audio plugs usually red, blue and green 3.5mm jacks situated next to one another, on there somewhere will be a part number, take that number down, get your sherlock holmes cap out and enlist google to hunt you some drivers for it.

You can also right click 'My Computer' then left click 'Manage'. in the dialogue box that appears there will be a device manager on the left hand scroll bar, if youleft click into there you will be able to manually hunt for the card in there.

Oh and also, if you go into start and enter 'Run' and put in DXDIAG that will bring up a natty Direct X Diagnostic dialogue box with loads of options for finding out what you have inside your machine.
