Most people go out and use a free blogging service.
Some go out and pay for a blogging service.
Very few (like me) build their own blogging script.
If you are like me and are building your own blogging script then you probably want to add as much functionality to it as possible.
This eBook takes you through step-by-step how to implement trackbacks on your very own blogging script.
Trackbacks are brilliant for targeted traffic and SEO because it's a quick and easy way to get your website's link all over the Internet very quickly.
Trackback means that if someone writes a blog entry and references your website in the blog entry - they can send a trackback which will then place their blog link at the bottom of your blog and your link appears on their blog entry.
And it works both ways - so if you write a blog entry and reference someone elses blog entry (that allows trackbacks) then you can get your website's link on their website.
The targeted traffic is because blog entries will only reference each other if they're of similar content or of interest - and so if someone took the time to read the original blog entry, and then gets to the bottom and sees that you have sent a trackback, they know that your blog entry is on a similar topic and so you're likely to get a lot of people clicking through.
Trackbacks are also an ideal way to have a forum type conversation, but between 2 different blogging websites as instead of leaving a comment, they can get the link back to your blog entry and read all about it there instead.
